Hiking Snow King

May 16, 2012

On Saturday, we decided to hike up Snow King, the town's ski resort. (Not to be confused with Jackson Hole Mountain Resort, which is 10-15 minutes outside of town in Teton Village and where most visitors ski.) As far as hiking here goes, Snow King is probably one of the easier, more popular hikes in town and was a good place for us to start. It's about 2 miles to the top and a 1600 foot elevation gain.

Overall, it was a great hike! The weather was perfect and there were tons of people out hiking and biking the trails. One of the best parts of hiking it was the view from the top:

Starting to make our way to the top...

Finally there!

Representing the Gamecocks, of course. Someone on the way up shouted "Go Clemson!" Unfortunately, I was too winded to put up too much of a fight!

We are both looking forward to doing more hiking. One of the great things about Jackson and our current location is that it's very close to several trailheads. Snow King is only one of the options, and there are even several trails within Snow King! There are both paved and unpaved trails, so there are options for everyone. It has been a lot of fun to be able to walk (or quickly drive) to many of the trails in town.
